A pharmacy technician at a North Carolina pharmacy is facing the prospect of losing his license after being caught on video allegedly giving patients a prescription to take without a prescription.
The North Carolina State Pharmacy Board said in a statement Thursday that James S. Lewis, an employee at North Carolina’s Nabp Pharmacy, violated a policy that prohibits the pharmacy from dispensing medication to anyone who does not have a prescription from the same pharmacy.
“It is the opinion of the board that this employee violated this policy by providing a prescription without a valid prescription,” the board said in the statement.
“Nabp is committed to providing the best possible service to our customers, and we will take appropriate action in the future.”
Lewis has not yet been formally charged.
The North Carolina Board of Pharmacy said in its statement that the board’s review of the case is ongoing.
